Alan Steiner Jason Heath.jpgDuring the 2009 International Society of Bassists Convention, I got a chance to sit down and do an interview with double bassist Alan Steiner, a former student of Roger Scott at the Curtis Institute and an active bassist and teacher in the Chicago area. It’s funny that even though Alan and I live only a few miles from each other in Illinois, it took a trip to Pennsylvania before we were able to get a chance to sit down and do an interview.

Alan (who appears in the photo with me) is the classical double bass teacher for the Birch Creek Music Performance Center in Door County, Wisconsin, and as a result he listens to a lot of audition tapes. In this interview (which will be coming out in August or very early September), Alan gives some tips on how students can put together a good audition tape. I think that folks out there will enjoy this useful interview.
