We’re offering a one-of-a-kind treat for podcast listeners out there this New Year’s Day. Guy Tuneh, the marvelous double bass virtuoso who has made many appearances on the blog and podcast in the past, has asked me to release this complete and unedited recording of him performing Bruch’s Kol Nidrei for a very special concert. Double bassist Radu Mantu did an audio recording of Guy Tuneh performing on a borrowed bass for children with terminal illnesses, and this emotionally powerful experience is something that Guy Tuneh would like to offer up in commemoration of the new year.

After speaking with Mr. Tuneh a few days ago, we agreed that it would be fitting for him to offer up a few words wishing listeners all the best for the new year, so this episode will open up with a few sentences from him.

This is the only complete performance of a musical work that Guy Tuneh has made available to the public on the Internet.

    God bless you!

Like always – touching my heart.

So nice that this caliber of talent does something like this for other people and NOT just being narcissist like some of the musicians can be.

Great, I’m going to be there when this post will be out!

Thank you very much Jason Heath!

    We are all very excited about that, first time that Guy Tuneh gives us more than just a sample, living us with taste of more and with dedication to us;

    Wowww!!!!

That this coming available to the public, nothing of this would be without the GREAT help of the one and only Guy Tuneh and You!.

He made us all so excited and gave us a positive energy to believe in, some of us will start to play the bass or to start to make music.
New things to believe in for people like us ist more than Gold and making our life much more nice!!!!.

We all going to be there to hear this rare and very very special recordering.

Mr. Tuneh is on his way to Berlin so I don’t know if he got this post but I will inform him, imagine, he was sending me an email before some days ago saying:

“Dear Radu, I hope you like surprises…”

I wasn’t sure what was in his mind…

Thank you very much Jason, You and Mr. Tuneh did something very special for us, Thanks!

Its Great to have the chance to hear him complete, Tuneh is known as a live ferformer, as someone who just dont believe in studio-work.
I’m curious to hear his rendition from A to Z.

Astonishing, Guy Tuneh is always up to something but never staying to collect the credit.
Even this time, no pictures of “I’m great and I love charity”, no wind about it, no pictures with the children with him in the center & so on.
Even this picture of him is old (like Jason took it from his Databank or something). Well, my teacher would make a big “I’m just amazing party” from this kind of “event” and use it for PR.
Guy Tuneh is just doing the things quietly, but more than that, its Amazing how much he can give from himself and stil staying on the ground and a human-been.
It make me to thing more deeply about my actions…!

Recpect and happy new year as well!

some people are like Roman, Petru, Edgar, Gary, Edicson, others like Nabil, Esko, or even Janne, but no one can? even come close to the pure awesomticity that? Guy D. Tuneh possesses.
