As the date for the Chicago Bass Festival approaches (Feb. 7th… you’ve registered, haven’t you?), I’ll be profiling some of the clinics that will be happening at this event.

The following clinic is intended for Illinois high school bassists planning on auditoning for the IMEA regional and All-State Orchestra for 2010. A graduate of the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia, Alan teaches bass in the Chicago area during the school year and is the classical bass faculty member for the Birch Cree Music Performance Center each summer in the idyllic environment of Door County, Wisconsin:

11:30 am – IMEA Audition Preparation Class (high school)

Alan Steiner, clinician

-group class, bring your bass

This clinic focuses on preparing the required audition music for the Illinois Music Educators Association (IMEA) auditions. Alan will focus on preparing the scales and required audition music (Academic Festival Overture by Brahms for 2010) as well as covering audition preparation strategies in general. Fingering, bowing, and group playing of the repertoire will be covered.
