We’ll be profiling some of the clinics and performing ensembles which will be at the festival over the next few weeks. Here’s some informabtion about the Chicago Bass Ensemble, who will be doing a Q&A/performance during the festival.

From the Chicago Bass Ensemble:

We’re very pleased to be a part of the Chicago Bass Festival. At 2 pm we will give a demonstration and Q&A on the subject of contemporary music for bass ensemble. We will be joined by several local composers who will speak about their music.

We’ll also play on the day’s faculty recital starting at 4 pm.

This is an event not to be missed by Chicago-area bassists and bass fans! The lineup of clinicians and performers is impressive.

We’ll do some of the following works (although we’re still working out details):

Doug Johnson, The Open Sea
Jan Alm, Quartet #2
Seth Boustead, Sawtooth Hammer
Bjorn Berkhout, Rise
Michael G. Miller, Caught (from Enambered)

FYI – we’ve also interviewed these guys on the bass podcast.
