One of the most popular things ever to grace the front page of this blog (and one of the top hits on Google for double bass even after all these years) is the ten-part video series Exploring the Double Bass with Lyric Opera of Chicago bassist Andy Anderson. In addition to being an outstanding performer, Andy also teaches double bass at Roosevelt University’s Chicago College for the Performing Arts, and as yo can see from these videos, he’s one heck of a teacher.

    Having – at the grand old age of 36 – just started on double bass after a generation playing on a fretless bass guitar, this chap has helped enormously.
