It’s been about two weeks since we moved from Evanston to Hyde Park on the South Side of Chicago. As promised, here are some pics of the new digs:

We’re actually located on Lake Shore Drive! It’s extremely cool to be right on the lake. The lakefront path that runs from our area all the way through downtown and the North Side is just outside the front door of our place. Very cool! You can see Lake Shore Drive and Promontory Point in the following photo. Nice backdrops to have as we’re going about our day-to-day activities!

We’re located along Hyde Park Boulevard and Lake Shore Drive (technically in South Kenwood, not Hyde Park, though Hyde Park is just across the street). Barack Obama’s place is down the street about five or six blocks.

Here’s a shot of the 53rd Street business district, with the University of Chicago campus in the background. It’s hard to tell from these photos, but this neighborhood is chock full of great parks and interesting architecture from many different eras. Every street has a different feel, and hours can be spent just walking up and down the streets and admiring all the fascinating buildings.

It’s a hazy morning, so it’s hard to see very far right now, but we’ve actually got a great view of the Loop with it’s clear. Here’s a shot facing north. You can see Lake Shore Drive snaking toward Soldier Field and the Museum Campus, and you can usually see the Chicago skyline. This is also a cool view at night!

I’ve got a great new office, with (of course) a great view. Here it is, along with the posterior of Dan the cat (who is getting settled into his strange new habitat after spending his whole life in the old place).

The living room certainly has the most spectacular views, as you can see from this panorama.

All in all, a major upgrade!
