For the start of the 2010-2011 season, we are combining Musicians at Work Forums with Forums programmed for other artistic disciplines to create a series called “At Work Forums.”

This will be a three part series focusing on web presence.

The first session will be as follows:

Presenter: Tim Frick: Author, Return on Engagement: Content, Strategy, and Design Techniques for Digital Marketing and Owner/Creative Director of Mightybytes, Inc.

Tim is an author and speaker, offering workshops and seminars around the country focusing on design, process, technology, digital and social media and creative software since 1998. Tim is also Owner and Creative Director of Mightybytes, Inc., an award-winning design-driven media firm in Chicago. His most recent book, is Return on Engagement: Content, Strategy, and Design Techniques for Digital Marketing.

Artists in all media rely on the web in many ways: to market their work; promote shows; sell music, tickets, and artwork; connect with opportunities, and cultivate fans, collectors, and audiences.

What are the most effective strategies for what you want to do online?

Learn your options to make your web presence—websites, email, social networks—work for you. What can you afford to make, what strategies can you use, and how do you maintain this presence?

This is part one of our AWF series about how artists of all disciplines can make best use of the web. Part two and three will be:

11/15 Website Design: Custom-made or Off the Rack

12/6 Marketing and Maintaining your web presence

Another important note

Instrumental music is preferred. Music should be soothing to airport patrons.

Submissions should be full CD’s of music, preferably with cover art included. (Please don’t send one or two songs)

Please include all contact information with your submission.

Submit music to:

Musicians at Work Forums address current issues of interest and concern for Chicago’s growing community of musicians working in all genres. Inspired by the popular Artists at Work Forums, this series invites industry professionals and musicians to discuss the current state of making a living through music in Chicago. For all Forums, venues, acts and music professionals are welcome to bring fliers, business cards and marketing materials for the audience. Come 30 minutes before the panel starts and network with your peers..
