Happy New Year!

To celebrate the new year, we now bring you the second of two new videos featuring premiere performances of the Baltic Guitar Quartet in the Berlin Philharmonie, this time of Paganini’s Cantabile for Violin:

As „Only For Bass” premiere, performed Double Bass Soloist Guy D. Tuneh an un-transcribed version of Paganini’s Cantabile for Violin (or as Mr. Tuneh prefer to approach and to name this work after having in mind – „crying angles”…) first time ever on Double Bass, Mr. Tuneh was accompanied by Baltic Guitar Quartet member – Sergej Krinicin.

Its very refine, new but sounds like a non singing work.
Looking at Mr. Tunehs approach to this work two things are clear: Guy Tuneh is symble of “alone-walker”
great corage and one of a kind artist that followes his believe!

    New as Fine!

Why not to play just “normal” music for Contrabass?
stil, great Job. I’d be more than happy to hear Maestro like Guy David Tuneh show the world how to play Bottesini or even classic like Van Hal…

    Maybe next year…

    P.S.
About the “crying angles” as Tuneh name this work, is it possible to get some more details?

    P.S.
After Rococo, Elgar, Beethoven and now this new stuff from Rossini and Paganini, I hope to see G. Tuneh in summer in the next ISB coinv.

    Great about Guy is:
He presents music on Bass, making everybody “hot” to try to play new music and to find new limits.

On that way he presents his own rendition – like two birds on one shot!

    Respect!

The only problem is he does create something very new that needs time to come to the ear of the audiance, to get use to his ideas and approach which is with so much imagimation and passion…

After I got used to his Elgar or even his Beethoven its very hard for me to find a redition to be so intresting like his.

    However, Happy New Year!

Its not like the Cantabile that I know from Paganini (It is the same work but very original in its interpretation – alsmost like new re-writing, quite phenomenal).
But still very very interesting and lots of grace, as I used to get it form the Bass Maestro Guy Tuneh.
