University of Washington bass professor Barry Lieberman (a former Contrabass Conversations guest and, along with his wife Maria, the creative force behind The American String Project) released a video conversation with Gary Karr a couple of years ago. This original video is a real treat, covering Gary’s career in depth and featuring both live performances and classic recordings from Gary Karr.
As with everything that Barry does, there is a great deal of depth and thought behind the way this conversation (recorded in front of a live audience at the University of Washington) is structured, and it is one of the best retrospectives of an artist’s career that I’ve ever seen.
I’m delighted, therefore, to share this new video conversation between Gary and Barry. The structure is similar, but the content is all new, and I think you’ll really enjoy this hour-long special. Enjoy!

I would love to see the performance as well!
