I can’t believe that we’re only a month away from the 50th Anniversary Convention for the ISB!  I’m getting ready for what’s sure to be the greatest bass geek party ever.

I had a great chat with Convention Chair and ISB President-Elect Nicholas Walker a few days ago.  We dig into all the new offerings for this year’s event, the headliners, and much more.

Advice from two well-known doctors

On Monday, I put out a conversation with Dr. Randy Kertz.  You probably know Randy from his excellent Body and Bass feature for the ISB.  If you haven’t seen Randy in action before, check out this short video from Bass Musician Magazine:

On Thursday, I’ll be releasing a podcast featuring Dr. Don Greene.  Don is a performance coach who has helped countless musicians through his work at the New World Symphony, Colburn, and Juilliard.

Don is the author of Audition Success, Performance Success, and Fight Your Fear and Win.  All three of these book have been hugely influential on me as a player and teacher.  Most of the people I interviewed for my book Winning the Audition credit Don’s teachings with helping them to win their job.

You can check out this truly incredible interview by subscribing to the podcast through Apple Podcasts, Google Play, Stitcher, or through our free app.

…and finally, here’s a quote I put up on Instagram from my interview with Indiana University bass professor Kurt Muroki.  Lots of feedback from bassists everywhere about the power of this simple statement.
