The ISB Convention is just around the corner!

New Releases

Diego Zecharies has just released a new album.  Here’s a preview video featuring Diego playing David Anderson‘s Capriccio No. 2 for solo double bass:

Diego, Simón García, Gabriele Ragghianti, and I spoke earlier this year about the Galicia Graves Festival.  This event took place in February and is a great addition to Spain’s double bass scene.

Ben Allison‘s new album Layers of the City will be released June 27, 2017.  Here’s a preview:

Ben was a podcast guest earlier this year.  We dug into streaming, crowdsourcing, making a living as an independent artist, and many other topics.

Dani Chiva has put together a cool duet in three movements that will be published by Recital Music.  Here’s a video of the second movement:

Keep up with Dani on Instagram, and look for these duets soon.

Check out my interview with Recital Music founder David Heyes for insight into what it’s like running your own publishing house!

Lauren Pierce has a cool new video covering what she calls the Up 10, Down 5 – Slow Practice Method:

Check out Jessica Valls and company at the Austin Bass Workshop! This event takes place June 27-30, 2017 and features pedagogy and group techniques from the legendary George Vance Workshops.  The faculty for the event is first-class.  Check it out if you can!

¡Viva el Bajo! was a total blast!  I had an amazing week with event founder and coordinator George Amorim as well as fellow clinicians Jeff Bradetich, Lloyd Goldstein, Carlos Gaviria, David Dawson, Alex Ritter, Mark Morton, and Jack Unzicker.

I also had the pleasure of hosting ¡Viva el Bajo! LIVE.  This unique performance/talk show format worked great.  Check it out below (thanks to Alex Ritter for the great GoPro footage!):
