Christopher Savino

Photo: This bass is closely modeled after the highly-coveted bass made by Oreste Cavalini, which has been owned by the world-renowned Curtis Institute for many years. The bold model is very player-friendly and deceptively smaller than its stance. Tonally, it has characteristics undeniably similar to the original: extremely powerful with excellent projection, great core and dimension, and a wide dynamic range with a quick and punchy response.

Christopher Savino has been making fine stringed instruments for over 35 years and began his career as a luthier in Cleveland, OH in the shop of H. Roth and Peter Horn.

In 1982, Chris moved to Denton, TX to study jazz guitar at the University of North Texas. While in Denton, he opened a shop and made violins and guitars for 19 years. Chris has been making instruments exclusively for Robertson & Sons since 2001.

His numerous awards include Certificates of Merit for Tone from the Violin Society of America in 2010 and from the International Society of Bassists in 2013, and a Silver Medal for Tone from the Violin Society of America in 2014 and 2017.
