Trevor Davis

Photo: Modeled after an extremely fine and rare double-bass made by the great Cremonese maker Giovanni Batista Ceruti and dated 1800. Its modest size and rather broad platform make this model player-friendly without sacrificing sound quality or power. Tonally, it has a dense core with good dimension and a wide color palate – a perfect combination of focus and spread. Inquire about commissioning.

Passionate about every aspect of the double-bass from making and restoration to playing, Trevor Davis graduated with a Jazz Performance degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and then spent a year in France, where he made the decision to shift his focus into the art of lutherie. Upon returning to the US in 2008, Trevor attended the Violin Making School of America and was a student in its first instrument restoration course.

Since then, he has gained recognition at the International Society of Bassists Makers Competition where his first bass won a Certificate of Workmanship, and in 2015 he was the recipient of a gold medal. Trevor’s basses are being used by world-class musicians, including world-renowned jazz bassist John Patitucci and Richard Barber of the National Symphony Orchestra.
