Every year since starting this blog, I have put out the reviled Jingle Cats on Christmas. This year is no exception. Here’s a video put together of the infamous cats running backwards. They sound like little evil monsters this way.

One of the fun things about living in a tall building is seeing all the various types of birds that circle our place. We have everything from seagulls and hawks to wild monk parakeets (I kid you not–check out more about it here) up here above the lakefront, and it’s quite a spectacle for us… and for our cats.

This past weekend, I woke up to find the cats chattering up a storm. It seems that a family of birds had taken up residence in the cables and pulleys from the facade repair on our building, and that one baby bird had decided to make himself comfortable on a cable right outside our window.

This was, as you can imagine, intensely fascinating to Mr. Dan.

Here’s a video of him going stark raving mad trying to get at that little bird. Good thing we didn’t have the window open!

Angel and Bubastis

My dad got me a papyrus painting of the Egyptian cat god Bubastis while on a trip to Cairo recently, and my wife and I put it up on the wall after moving into our new digs.

For some reason, our cat Angel (I used to stroll her and her brother Dan around the neighborhood when I used to live in Evanston) likes sitting right beneath the painting, often striking the exact same pose:

Her second-favorite spot is probably on my right shoulder–no matter what room she’s in, she seems to sense when I sit down o the couch and is usually in “parrot cat” position within 30 seconds:

Even cats love the iPad!

Several folks have passed along the following link to me, knowing me to be a lover of cats and of my new iPad. This has been pretty popular on YouTube, so you may have already seen it, but check it out if you haven’t–it’s amazing to see how cats can respond to what they see on a screen!

Incidentally, everything I’ve put out on the blog for the last two weeks has been 100% done on the iPad. It’s an awesome blogging tool!
