Q: What are some of your favorite experiences teaching at your school?

A: Orchestra Program; Close Supportive Community; Concerto Competition. Students are double majors or dual concentration on bass and other degree program.

About The Bass Faculty

Edward Randles received his Bachelor of Music in Double Bass Performance from Boston University School of Music receiving the Four-year Performance Award Scholarship and his Master of Music in Double Bass Performance from the New England Conservatory. Mr. Randles is currently Principal Double Bass with the South Bend Symphony Orchestra and is on the adjunct faculties as instructor of Double Bass with Andrews University and Lake Michigan College of Southwest Michigan State University. He performs with Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra and has appeared regularly with Notre Dame Opera, in chamber orchestra appearances with St. Mary’s Chamber Singers – Nancy Menc; Vesper’s Chorale – Wyshart Bell; the Camerata Society – David Seitz, and in other chamber and choral performances. He has performed as a member of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra (Charleston, SC), the Albany Symphony Orchestra (Albany, NY), Fort Wayne Philharmonic, and as Principal Bass of INdiana Opera North. He has freelanced with the Kalamazooo Symphony Orchestra, Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra, and Illinois Philharmonic. He has appeared in performance of Bach’s St. Matthew’s Passion under Helmut Rilling with Valparaiso University – 2001 and has attended under full scholarship the Aspen Music Festival, the Round Top Music Festival – Round Top, TX, the Waterloo Music Festival  under Gerard Schwarz – Princeton, NJ, and the Boris Goldovsky Opera Workshop. He lives in South Bend, IN with his wife Helene Randles-Dauerty. In addition to his performance and teaching schedule he teaches private studio instruction on Bass and coaches the South Bend Youth Orchestra.
