Perspectives from the Bass Faculty

Q: What are some of your favorite experiences teaching at your school?

A: The Mead Witter School of Music has a great array of performance opportunities. We have a full orchestra, opera, and several jazz groups. One way that I have found the school to be unique from other schools is in its intensive and broad chamber music program. There are three faculty run chamber groups that perform at a high level regularly, and encourage/coach students to perform chamber music together. The school also attracts many great guest artists that perform and teach.

Additionally Madison the city is a wonderful place to live and study. The quality of living is high, and the community supports music in a big way. We have both a symphony and a chamber orchestra in town, along with many chamber groups, jazz combos, and groups of all styles. The demand for music in town is high, so there is plenty of work for bassists of all musical leanings.
