June 9-12, 2008 - Oklahoma Bass Bash - Stillwater, OK
The Oklahoma Bass Bash is a four day clinic designed for bassist ages 12-18.
The camp includes double bass technique, orchestral excerpts, solo coaching and
private lessons. Along with numerous other activities the Bash also has bass

July 13-18, 2008 - 15th annual Oklahoma City University Summer Double Bass Camp, Oklahoma City, OK
The 15th annual Oklahoma City University Summer Double Bass Camp will be held the week of July 13-18, 2008 in the Wanda L. Bass Music Center on the campus of Oklahoma City University. Geared for high school and college-aged students, it is a week of bass training and playing. Classes on every aspect of “bass” from technique, to orchestra, to jazz,and to bass choir will be covered. Orchestra directors who would like a refresher course on bass are encouraged to attend. All ability levels are welcome. The cost for attending the camp is $395.00 and includes room and board (all costs). For further information and application forms contact jschimek@okcu.edu
August 4-9, 2008 - Jeff Bradetich Master Class - Mittenwald, Germany
The master class takes place in Mittenwald, Germany the 4th - 9th of August. Highlights include: intense technique classes, solo lessons, concerts in the town, bass orchestra and walks in the mountains.

August 30, 2008 - 1st Annual Chicago Bass Festival - Buntrock Hall - Symphony Center - Chicago, IL
This new and exciting event showcasing the talents of the Chicago double bass community will occur from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2008, at Symphony Center’s Buntrock Hall in Chicago, Illinois. Check back frequently for more details.
October 30-November 2, 2008 - Second International Bass Symposium -Paris, France
This organization will be presenting the Second International Bass Symposium at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (www.CNSMDP.fr) this fall from October 30 to November 2.
This is the first bass symposium to be held in France since ‘Bass 94? in Avignon, and it promises not to disappoint, with many events for performers, students, and teachers, including:
- A competition comprising a mini-bass section with four distinct levels for ages 7 to adult
- Solo, orchestra, jazz, and contemporary divisions for the competition
- Conferences, concerts, and recitals in all styles ranging from classical to jazz (and more!)
- Exhibits from prominent bass luthiers from many countries
- A large ensemble piece for 100 double bassists and two electric basses (I can’t wait to see this piece!)
