I found this Washington Post story through a recent post on Alex Ross’ blog The Rest is Noise. According to the Post, federal and state cutbacks prompted Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea’s organization of the Silverlake Conservatory:

Here is a short clip of bass soloist and recent Contrabass Conversations guest François Rabbath performing Le Cri during Recital Hour. This performance occurred a few days before François did the interview for Contrabass Conversations, and it is great to hear him play this piece.
