Matt Wengerd (104 Weeks) recently wrote a post detailing his trip to the International Association of Jazz Educators conference in New York City earlier this month. He’s got a great description of his experiences as a representative for the University of South Florida jazz program. Check out his IAJE post here.
Among the double bassists Matt saw at the conference was John Patitucci. One of the most prominent bassists in jazz today, Patitucci is known for playing Pöllman basses. I can’t tell from the photo whether he is playing a Pöllman bass or some other model.
I attended the IAJE conference about ten years ago here in Chicago. It was a really great experience, and I wish I could have been at this year’s conference in NYC.

Dear Friend…
Wondering if you can help me…I’m looking for the Research Journal article by my former teacher, Dr. Donald Chittum. (I have the paper but need the full work with examples.)
The title: Mozart, Wagner, and Coltrane
International Association of Jazz Educators phone is disconnected…Because you seem to be a contributor; thought you might be able to help with this.
Thank you,
John Renner
