Here is the next track in the Virtual Master Class Project. This is a bass solo called Barriolage. Leave criticism, advice, practice tips, and the like by clicking on the ‘comments’ link below the player.
Sometimes these players take 10-20 seconds to load, so give it a little time to play if it doesn’t start right away. Read more about this project here, or click here to listen to all the tracks. There aren’t many now, but you can help with that by submitting tracks or telling students & friends about this opportunity.

Great string-crossing ability and bow control!
Jason,
I’ve listend to “bariolage” (volteggio in Italian) and really it’s not very good.
The problem is that we can listen to only the first string and not the third.
It’s a question of balancement. Then, a with a french bow, you can obtain a “volteggio spiccato”. Every note must be very focused and you must have the sensation of “jump” with the bow on every string. This effect probably, and I repeat “probaly” it’s very difficult with a German bow. IMHO.
Vito
I looked for this piece on the web. There are several contemporary pieces out there named “Bariolage” Please give us the composer.
