A psychoanalyst’s take on the music business

I recently discovered a great new blog by psychoanalyst Mike Jolkovski that analyses relationships and dynamics in music performance organizations.  What a great idea for a blog!  This is a subject of great interest to me, especially as I continue to write my This Crazy Business series of articles. 

Workingthrough.com covers some of the following topics (in Mike’s own words):

  • the psychology of the performer
  • leadership and conflict as it occurs in bands and other music groups
  • similarities between creative persons in the arts and technologies
  • analogies between bands and business startups
  • why people sabotage their success
  • leadership, authority, and power: legitimate and otherwise

    Mike also wrote a post about my new blog Arts Addict recently.  Thanks, Mike!  I’ll be looking forward to seeing this blog develop in the coming weeks and months–it’s in my Google Reader, so I’ll be sure not to miss a post.
