Here’s another link from Christian Buchholz featuring Guy Tuneh performing at Sessa Aurunca 2008. In this video, he performs excerpts from the Rossini Duo with cellist Claus Kanngiesser.

O.M.G
its a Guy Tuneh festival!
thanks Jason.
Another video of Rossini specialist Guy Tuneh,
the cello player could give a bit more from himself.
Cool to see how Maestro Tuneh is
“giving him a break”…
B.T W. – A rumor is out that Double-bass Virtuoso
Guy David Tuneh is going to be the 1. Solo bassist of “Ensemble Les Dissinances” in 2010.
Is it possible to confirm that?
Cellist Claus Kanngiesser is a chancellor in every major cello Wettbewerb today.
Intresting to see him in action.
(Tuneh is sometning – Great Bow-control at the end)
Mr. Kanngiesser is Rector of the Koeln, wopertal Akademie for music in Germany, a Great
music-scientist and normaly, a great Cello player!
I think that the Youtube Rossisni Duo of Guy Tuneh is much better.
Funny to see bassist taken “low-gear” because of cellist, however the two are doin nice Job.
(Mr. Tuneh is looking like his patience is running out)
I dont understand:
In the first “cell-video” the violin player could do better, in this “cell-video” the cello player can do better…
what did Guy Tuneh give them to eat for breakfast??
Guy is looking very upset comparing the other video that he is looking shining and enjoying.
In all seriousness I really can’t stand Guy Tuneh’s playing. It is so scratchy and undefined he just can’t be compared to any other great bass player alive today.
well “Michael Murphy” (once again some one uses undercover name…, looks like 3rd class anvy bassist)
Only you compar Guy Tuneh with some other great bass players, I dont, he is uncomparable!
from lots of points he is a LEGEND.
Intresting that you are the only to try to compar him.
maybe you think or you have the iner feeling that there is a place or need to compar…
You see, I dont care from other bassists after
I see and hear Guy Tuneh!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(he is not only playing bass like you, he is a complet art-work, like an oper figur!!!)
Some people are realy under insperation from this guy.
Dont be Envy, and next time show your face and post your REAL name!
P.S.
Jason dont let some people to drek your blog image.
I say fair Commenting;
No REAL name, NO comment!!!
Woww,
didnt know that an Action-Actor has such
“clever” view on bass playing.
why fear?, because you know that if you will show your real Name every one will make an idiot out of you and you have to show you can do better than Guy Tuneh.
Clear isnt it!
I’m lucky with every music track or video
featuring Guy Tuneh, even as non-ful version!
I need to say, with this kind of cello playing it is clear why Maestro Tuneh is unhappy in this Video.
P.S.:
If some “Movie-Stars” can’t stand Guy Tuneh’s playing so why bothering and commanting or even
seeing his Videos??
“Michael Murphy” & “Elvis” are the same person!
I wonder if Guy Tuneh has such an effect on you, why are you visting on and on and viewing every one of his videos???
Please Jason,
I would like to enjoy from the Video and not to have a kindergarden of small stupid people…
Hey Murphy,
…But still his Spicc at the end is PERFECT
like by Nobel Violin-player and his playing is one of a kind.
The Cellist should eat more spinach…
I have nothing to say here about Tuneh’s playing.
I am really tired of the dozen or so irritating posts at the end of any post featuring this bassist. These commenters spring up as a crowd to denounce anyone who doesn’t think their way. Sorry to conflate one writer’s tone and content with others, but it just runs together to me. The commenter michael murphy, real name or not (who cares), offered simple, coherent comment – his own opinion. The comment was not inflammatory in any way and was approved by Jason. Why is it necessary to feel provoked, insulted, attacked. Why go on the defense?
to Jon
for you its “irritating” because it is not about you or your playin…
but even “own opinion” sould be fair and not just for sport, it i smore than clear that the spirit of some comments is just because of some people are feeling irritating ’cause someone else is getting such a wonderful comment.
Wouldnt you like to have the same comments?
(it would make you feel good and special…)
So, comment fair, after all Mr. Tuneh did something in his life to get this kind of comment.
Yours
James
P.S
why giving false name?
why hide?
if someone would like to be taken seriously
he sould also act like this.
looking back, NO one
provoked or
insulted or
attacked or
Some one, but as you said “Why go on the defense”
and hide your name?
Dear Jon, we all need to learn how to live with our feelings… (even if its only anvy, feir or etc..)
Jon is right “freedom of speech”
but intresting is that Jon who call for this freedom is attacking those who use it but having other opinion (those who like guy Tuneh…)
however
Guy Tuneh will be GREAT even if will go on with this circus.
I’m sure that Mr. Tuneh didnt wish this going in that way of attacking eachother!
Just try to hear the music… and dont feel attacked from it or from him.
but still all these people who get so irritating
are surfing again and again on every pease of link that Jason post from Mr. Tuneh, even if its only shrt one.
if you are irritating, why open this link, why doin yourself something that you dont like??
why looking over and over at Guy Tuneh’s playin?
Guy Tuneh is one of the Greatest!!:
and not because of being comparable to others or not,
He is Great because his own style – this Bassist
developed his own way of playing bass, having NO
one to be his row-model (very like the story of E. Meyer), and looking at Tuneh’s life story,
I dont think that he is generaly a “Happy-Scout”
if you understand what I mean,I wouldnt change with him for one single hour!!!!!!!!!.
however
You cannt compar an Original-Icon with all the rest!
comparing is for those who cannt see and feel
independent, for those who always need “doc-staion”.
The Greatest dosnt mean comparing, in this case:
the things that he changed with his playing, the wonderful ideas that he present and most of all his love to the music and to his instrument – that we all enjoy from, at the end.
After viewing Guy playing L’elefant
(that was also posted here)
I dont care about other Bassists and how they play
they had the chance to get into my heart until today, but no one could do to me what Guy did to me with his redition to this work and to other works.
And I just dont care about some people feeling “irritating” who have a problem to
cheer a compliment, because of these guys
great poeple like Tuneh and many others have just hard time.
Tuneh’s power to inspiration is much biger than
every thing that poeple would write…
He is one of the fewest to be so free when playing this instrumant, from the kind of Klaus Stoll type of player, I think they have the same school (or same tradition..).
I love that the bass-sound come from deep inside!
and not influanced from others factors.
bravissimoooo por su squizzatto fregonerooooo!!!!!
una servidora de la musica, con todo? mi cariño y admiracion.
A very rare Multy Talent!
GREAT –
go go Claus…
Ach, to write that Mr. Tuneh’s playing is “scratchy and undefined” is just unfair!!
B.W.
