This will be a bit controversial but, as a jazz bassist, I have to say that I don’t much enjoy Stanley’s playing, esp on URB. I find him to be primarily a showboater, with an ugly sound and more attitude than content. I like the way he sounds on the early Chick Corea recordings (Light As A Feather, especially) but in general… no thanks.
