Doublebassblog.org. contributor Vito Liuzzi has a new feature up on his double bass website allowing visitors to hear Domenico Dragonetti’s Gasparo da Salo double bass from 1590 (pictured here – image from Vito’s site).
Vito has quite a bit of information about the double bass on his main site as well, including videos, photos, and articles about the bass. He’s also got a ton of videos on his YouTube page as well (many of which we’ve featured here on the blog).
Want to check out some audio from Dragonetti’s old bass? Then visit Vito’s site about the instrument here. He’s also got an article in Italian about the instrument and a lot of excellent photos as well.

I wish I knew where this bass was when I was in Venice. It would have been awesome!
Check out my blog, if you get a chance. It is nothing exciting. I’ve just done two posts as of now. If you have any pointers that would be great.

Jason,
it’s a pleasure to provide News for you. Oh yes, I’m a doublebass players but I’ve worked for years also as Journalist. So in this “free site” I combine the different aspects of my personality.
Why a “free site”? Only when I tell explicity that something it’s protecte by Copyright, pay attention.
But for the other things (my bow and fingerings, photos, interviews, recensions, technique and so on)
it’s possible to copy them into you pc, abolutely free. No virus, don’t worry.
It has been to do a different thing, an “idea”.
Just like you, Jason, and your main blog.
My best regards
Vito
